City Lights was a Scottish comedy series set in Glasgow. It ran for 6 Series in total, from 1986-1991.
Willie Melvin (Gerard Kelly) works as a bank clerk, at the Strathclyde Savings Bank, but dreams of being a successful novelist. When he wins a short story competition, he thinks that 'he's on his way'. He courts and marries Janice McLachlan (Elaine Collins), but their relationship is shortlived. Willie subsequently becomes interested in Fiona (Ann Bryson).
